While I was in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in 1993 for a convention, I happened upon the Babylon 5 pilot, "The Gathering"
It was a bold statement that went against the utopian-themed Star Trek genre.
For the next five years, I was entralled
by the journeys of Sinclair, Ivanova, Sheridan, Delenn, Garibaldi, Londo, and G'Kar. I usually would watch the show
late nights on WJZY Channel 46 out of Charlotte. In the fifth and final season, the show moved to Turner Network Television.
The spinff, Crusade, never got a chance after TNT executives clashed with series creator J. Michael Straczynski over
the production of the show, and was shown as a 13-episode summer series in 1999. SciFi Channel picked up the reruns
in 2000, and produced a TV movie called "Legend of the Rangers", which did not fare too well in ratings thanks to an NFL playoof
game in primetime.
I am planning to post some fan fiction in the future, as well as some character and episode reviews. Also, I plan
to write some crossover stories involving B5 interacting with Starblazers and Star Trek Deep Space Nine.
