1) When I was born, I came eight days early. When my sister Stacey was born in 1973, she was eight days late.
This trend continues to this day, as I am always very early and she is always very late.
2) My sister and I were born exactly 2 years and 1 week apart.
3) My girlfriend Andrea was two weeks after me on May 22, 1971.
4) My shoe size is 15 EE, and it has been since seventh grade.
5) My favorite animation series growing up was Starblazers
6) My favorite college sports team is the University of North Carolina Tarheels.
7) My favorite baseball team: Atlanta Braves
8) My favorite NFL team: Carolina Panthers
9) My favorite NBA team WAS the Charlotte Hornets, but since they moved to New Orleans, I have no favorite, except maybe the Atlanta Hawks. Other favorites of mine are the Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings, and New Jersey Nets
10) My favorite NHL teams: Montreal Canadiens and Carolina Hurricanes. I hope to attend Atlanta Thrashers and Nashville Predators games this season.
11) The college I hope to attend starting in January 2004: Appalachian State University
12) College I graduated from: Isothermal Community College
13) I was a member of the Sigma Chi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Isothermal, which is a member of the Carolinas Region.

18) My favorite Babylon 5 fansite: Code 7R
19) Science fiction convention I am DYING to go to: Dragon*Con 2003
20) I used to play golf. My first score was an 89. I never got better than that.
21) However, when I was a kid, I kicked butt at Putt-Putt
22) Back in 1984, to celebrate the Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, my friends and I staged our own Summer Games over the
recess from school.
23) When I was young, I invented my own pro football league called the Rutherford County Football League. The team
I played for was called the Forest City Hornets.
24) I also invented a college team for football and basketball called the University of Rutherford County at Forest City
Snowheels.
25) As for real organized sports, I played a few years of ice hockey in Charlotte at Eastland Mall. I also played a year
of organized soccer, but got booted off after I kicked the ball and knocked out the goalie, which made the goalie's parents
quite irate.
26) I did go out for a practice for high school freshman football, but I knew it was not for me, so I decided to stick
to pick-up games.
27) In pickup football games, I usually was the quarterback for both teams. Mainly because I had a good arm, or else
because I was the last guy that wasn't picked.
28) I did rule in kickball back in school. In junior high, I actually kicked the ball to the fence o the softball
field.
29) In seventh grade PE, they made the mistake of playing floor hockey. The teacher was so baffled at how dominate
I was that she put me in goal after I racked up goal after goal. Poor kids, I never let in a goal.
30) I was good at the unusual sports (at least here in America). In eighth grade, we played team handball.
I must have been the only one who watched it during the Olympics, because I was peppering the goalie with shot after shot.
By the time, the class was over, the poor guy was covered in welts.
31) As for the big three, I was average. In football, I could throw the ball, punt and kick pretty good, and could
run and catch decently. I had no speed though.
32) In basketball, I was mainly a forward. I was OK shooting from outside, but I was better down low in the post.
33) In softball, I was a contact hitter, but I stunk in the field.
34) Another interesting fact in eighth grade PE class: thanks to watching 1984 Olympic volleyball, I brought the jump serve
to class when we started playing volleyball. Let's just say that my team really liked it when I served.
35) I did have my moments in PE class: scoring 40 points in basketball, going 4 for 4 with a triple and two doubles in
softball, and four touchdown catches in football.
36) In eighth grade, I tried out for every sport for Field Day, from the 100 meters, to the long jump, to the 400 meters.
Unfortunately, I did not make wthe homeroom team.
37) I cannot swim, but I have played water polo in a shallow pool once. The pool was about three feet deep.
38) When I get to App, I intend to learn how to swim.
39) I was a part of my high school student government. I ran in several elections, winning the student body treasurer post,
but losing in freshman, junior, and senior class elections, as well as student body president and vice president elections.
40) At App, I will not follow this pattern. Maybe a senate post, but nothing more.
41) I have written for school newspapers. In high school, I wrote a column called "Cavalier Life" and did some sports
and feature reporting. In college, I started out as sports and managing editor, then I became editor after the previous
editor had to leave school. this is where the "View From The Hill" column came into being.
42) I hope to write for the Appalachian student newspaper, and I also hope to do a radio show on WASU-FM, the student radio station at App.
43) Some memories from my time in Sigma Chi: the 1993 Regional Convention, where our skit there gave us a reputation for
raciness. the 18 hour van ride to Dallas for the 1993 International Convention. the week out in Anaheim for the
1994 International. The leadership conference in 1993 in Charlotte. Also the Haunted Forests and other fellowship
activities.
44) In the summer of 1991, Andrea and I went on a tour of Europe as a 20th birthday present from my dad and her parents.
Its was a Contiki tour, and we went to England, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Austria, Germany, and Holland.
45) I also went in 1985, but not with my junior high class. My mom could not afford it, and my dad wanted to do something
different. So we went that summer for two weeks with my dad, a couple of uncles, my cousins Joey, Greg, Paul, and Mark,
and my friend Greg and his dad. We went to England, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, then-West Germany, Belgium,
and Holland.
46) Andrea and I have talked about going to Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland in the future, probably when I get out
of college.
47) My dad died in 1997 due to a brain hemmorage. He was 61. He was born in Montreal on December 27, 1935.
